Kenya Association of Hotelkeepers & Caterers

Founded in 1944, the Kenya Association of Hotelkeepers & Caterers (KAHC) is the principal umbrella organization representing hotels, lodges, camps, restaurants, membership clubs, and airline caterers in Kenya’s hospitality industry. KAHC’s vision is to make Kenyan hospitality globally competitive and viable for all stakeholders, including guests, shareholders, employees, local communities, suppliers, and government. KAHC boasts a diverse membership of star-rated hotels, restaurants, caterers, lodges, tented camps, and residential cottages. The association’s core services include advocacy for a conducive business environment, promoting harmonious industrial relations through collective bargaining, and serving as the main voice for the industry on regulatory and policy matters. KAHC actively represents its members on key national bodies such as the Kenya Tourism Board, Federation of Kenya Employers, and Tourism Regulatory Authority. Marketing and promotion of members’ products and services are achieved through publications like the Hotel & Restaurant Guide and participation in major tourism trade shows. KAHC also collaborates with training institutions, notably Kenya Utalii College, to support industry training and professional development. As a central hub for information exchange, KAHC maintains an industry databank and keeps members updated on government policies, licensing, human resource development, safety, standards, and legislation. Membership provides recognition, a platform for networking, and a united voice for addressing industry challenges.
