Kaikindō Studio specializes in the conservation, restoration, and study of Edo–Meiji era Japanese objects. Our focus includes altars (zushi), lacquerware, carved wood, and devotional artifacts. Every project is grounded in deep historical research, ethical conservation standards, and traditional material techniques such as urushi lacquer, makie, gilding, and joinery. We produce detailed multi-phase treatment plans, condition reports, and comparative research—blending museum-grade documentation with hands-on craftsmanship. Our work honors the spiritual and material lineage of each object, restoring what time weathered using the methods it once knew.
