From postman to innovator – Kalkhoff has been writing cycling history since 1919. Over the course of 100 years, we have become not only one of the leading bike brands in Germany but also a global trendsetter in e-mobility. Today, with all its history, Kalkhoff stands more than ever for innovation, quality and commitment to Germany as a centre of manufacturing. Kalkhoff bikes are still developed, assembled and tested in the company's own laboratory in Cloppenburg – and help us deliver on our slogan of “Pure Freedom” in over 30 countries across the world.
Our trademark is continuous innovation. Kalkhoff has always led the way – rather than simply going with the flow – as evidenced by the company starting serial production of e-bikes as early as 2007. This was duly followed by the launch of the first serial-production e-bike with a mid-mounted motor and fully integrated/ removable battery in 2015. Not to mention the development of pioneering shiftsensor technology for really smooth gear changes and less stress on materials.
Our 100th anniversary is no time to relax – we see it instead as an incentive to
keep innovating and driving the German bike industry forwards in future.
