Founded in 1975 by Ramesh and Urmil Kapoor, Kapoor Galleries specializes in the sale of Indian & Himalayan fine art. The family-owned gallery has been and continues to be an invaluable resource for museum-quality works of art from the Indian subcontinent, contributing to major museum collections and distinguished private collections across the globe. The gallery has placed works in The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Minneapolis Institute of Art, Asian Civilisations Museum Singapore, Princeton University Art Museum, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Norton Simon Museum, Art Institute of Chicago, San Diego Museum of Art, Dallas Museum of Art, and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, among many others. In 2013, Sanjay Kapoor became the fourth consecutive generation to lead the gallery.
