Katy Cares is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 2016 as a solution-driven response to our community’s most vulnerable population – single-parent families who are victims of trauma due to a life-altering event such as domestic violence, abuse, intimidation, separation, divorce, financial challenges due to a loss of employment, income, child support, and/or a natural disaster.
Our attention was drawn to the invisible and expanding social dilemma of single mothers and children who experienced trauma as a result of an event, series of events and/or set of circumstances which are physically, emotionally harmful, and life-threatening.
These events have lasting and negative effects on an individual’s and/or family’s functioning and mental, physical, social, and emotional or spiritual well-being. Katy Cares was founded to provide a structured solution to this dire need experienced by single parent families.
