KAYADUA is a Ghanaian-based fashion brand founded by Eyiwaa Agyekumhene. Eyiwaa graduated from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Ghana in 2017, where she studied Integrated Rural Arts and Industry, majoring in Fiber and Fabrics. She grew up with her grandmothers, who inspired her with their way of living and ability to make interesting fashion items with their hands out of natural talent.
Starting as an accessory brand in 2018 and releasing our first clothing collection in 2021, KAYADUA honors the legacy of the elders in Ghana while inspiring younger generations to express themselves creatively. In the spirit of inspiring the younger generation, we have dedicated 10% of proceeds from the HOME collection to a young girls' mentorship and training program by SEWING ( Sankofa Empowering Women in Ghana ) a women's organization under PeaceJam.
Built with the essence to inspire confidence and freedom of self-expression, we strive to celebrate uniqueness which serves as an underlying aesthetic that drives our designs. Sharing our culture and tradition through our pieces, we believe the more longevity they have, the further our culture travels.
Our production usually takes a slow fashion approach where the KAYADUA pieces are often made by hand and can take a day to weeks of production time on one piece. KAYADUA explores the relationship between self and strength through the use of traditional techniques such as weaving, beading, and other intricate processes applied in new and modern ways with our team here in Ghana.
The KAYADUA pieces are stocked in shops around the world Ghana, Nigeria, Japan. Our pieces have made appearances in Grazia UK, I-D, Courier Media, Vogue, Ellefr, OE Magazine, and other leading magazines.
With the desire to encourage freedom of self-expression, we allow ourselves an open field for creativity from spaces even beyond the world of fashion.
