The DMI Centre was established in 1999 as an NGO with the objective of creating awareness in diabetes and its management. The DMI empowers people living with diabetes, provides screening on diabetes, hypertension & body weight, raises funds to support diabetes projects, facilitates training among peer educators & health care providers and conducts research to assist in the management of diabetes.
The DMI has a clinic at Jadala Place, off Ngong road that caters to those living with diabetes as well as those seeking to prevent diabetes or reverse their Type 2 diabetes.
The DMI holds fundraising activities such as an annual golf tournament and the annual diabetes walk. Key partners in DMI's work include the Ministry of Health (MoH), the Safaricom Foundation, World Diabetes Foundation (WDF), Novo Nordisk, Roche and many others.
