My name is Gary and I worked for the London Fire Brigade for over 25 years. I started as an operational firefighter then as my career progressed, I started working my way through the different ranks (levels of responsibility) including working as a fire investigator and eventually finishing as a Borough Commander.
I have seen first-hand the destruction and devastation a fire can have on people’s
lives. The loss of loved ones, pets and valued possessions. Seeing your world go up in smoke as you watch on helplessly. The time and effort required to try to rebuild life back into some form of normality. The physical, mental and financial strain it puts upon people. None of this can be underestimated.
