We believe the hydrokinetic potential of urban rivers can be harnessed to accelerate the world’s transition to clean, safe, sustainable energy. We have designed an innovative, modular renewable energy system that draws on proprietary impeller technology to generate electricity from hydrokinetic environments and provide an additional source of clean energy for local microgrids. In contrast to traditional large-bladed turbines, our system will be safer to use, easier to maintain and small enough to be sited directly within urban rivers, where energy consumption is at its highest. The technology behind KELP Systems has received a positive evaluation from the Ocean Renewable Energy Catapult and is supported by Scottish Enterprise.
