KENDRICK TRAN is a slow-made high-end streetwear brand, founded by artist Kendrick Tran (he/they). Growing up with immigrant parents taught them to always give back to those with less. To seek peace and happiness above all else. This turned into a passion for humanitarian causes and trying to change the world. They create with a purpose; to inspire others to never settle, be bold and speak up for what is important to them. Started on the idea of exploring connections in one of the world's most superficial industries. Where one’s self-worth is based on their social presence or what others think of them. They try to contradict that. Making their work a protest against virtual indulgence and what is considered “success” in the modern day. The brand is a platform to explore the way clothes can interact with our modern world. Developing an understanding of our relationship to material things, and how our egos are so closely tied to what we wear. Feeling like they don’t have a voice, Kendrick uses fashion to make statements. It’s about starting a conversation, making a spectacle. Thus, the slogan is “FOR YOUR VIEWING PLEASURE”. An idea/concept/project to develop a better understanding of who we are through the creative process. Developing their career and design aesthetic before launching the inevitable couture label.
