Kerala Grama Nirmana Samithy

The Kerala Grama Nirmana Samithy is a network organisation of 8 NGOS-independently registered in the Malabar area of 4 Districts, engaged in integrated rural development on Gandhian lines, It implements various projects through the 9 NGOs. The KGNS co-ordinates and facilitates the work of each of these organisations. The composition of the KGNS is as a decentralised 4 tier system. The Micro level organisation is the SHG Leaders from the SHGS upto 30 will form the SHG Federation for looking after the SHGS. The representatives of federations and some local like-minded persons will form the NGO, and the representatives of NGOS form the KGNS network. KGNS was registered during 1986 for the purpose of improving the capacities of NGOs and MLOS by training, co-ordination, support etc and to improve the living condition of underprivileged sections of the people.
