Khanyisa Projects provides research, engineering & institutional development services in the water & sanitation sector We support research and development into next generation sanitation systems. This includes implementing field testing and evaluation of non-sewered sanitation prototypes and carrying out research into new operations and financing models to enable sanitation systems to operate successfully at scale. Non-sewered sanitation solutions are recognised as being crucial to solving the world’s sanitation crisis, where over 45% of the global population do not have access to a safely managed sanitation service and where freshwater resources are under increasing pressure. Khanyisa Projects’ clients include the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Water Research Commission and sanitation technology developers. No municipality can operate efficiently in the 21st century without intelligent data. Khanyisa Projects provides digital solutions to municipalities and other organisations. Key focus areas include asset management, non-revenue water, fault management and water resource management. Tools utilised include apps or electronic data collection forms, open source software, aggregate surveys for hosting apps and the collected data as well as appropriate dashboards and reports. Khanyisa Projects also offers Stakeholder Engagement inclusive of Institutional and Social Development (ISD) services to a range of public and private sector clients including municipalities, project managers and construction contractors for projects including construction of new infrastructure and capacity-building of emerging contractors.
