The problems has multiple levels, mostly around how the ecosystem doesn't support the farmers. Indian farmers lose 10-15% of their potential income in the post-harvest value chain due to these inefficiencies which accumulates to ~$15 billion/year, and that is only because they do not have the access to the right buyers who will purchase their produce at a fair price.
