At Khwaahish, we are dedicated to giving second chance at life.
Our journey began in Uttarakhand, where we saw children risking their lives to steal coal from moving trains and frequent animal casualties on the tracks. Through collaboration with local authorities, we expanded social security coverage for BPL families, provided financial relief, and created long-term solutions.
We have sponsored the education of over 500 children, enrolled them in schools with free meals, and upskilled them after classes. Parents have been empowered through vocational training, with over 100 mothers trained and more than 20 fathers supported in self-employment. Today, children who once chased trains now board school buses daily.
On the animal welfare front, we have rescued over 3,000 animals, established a rescue center, and operate a veterinary ambulance for emergency care. We are now building the state’s first-of-its-kind Multi-Specialty Veterinary Hospital, with the capacity to shelter 150 animals and treat 200 daily.
At Khwaahish, we believe in rehabilitation and creating opportunities for communities and animals to thrive since 2017. Together, we’re ensuring no childhood or animal is lost along the railway tracks.
