Kinosphere is a platform for the Indian film industry inclusive of all local language industries. It’s a resource center, a meeting point for collaborations and working together. There are mainly two categories of people, those that seek an opportunity and those that offer that opportunity. It encompasses all areas of the industry including talent, equipment and services. Additionally, the kinosphere app will showcase short films of registered members to give them more exposure.
We start with a major focus on the Tamil film industry and then move on to the Telugu film industry covering all of the South and moving on to the north Indian film industry. Since this is an app, it will simultaneously target artists and production houses across India but our offline focus will be to first strengthen the Tamil industry.
The Indian film industry still uses archaic methods to locate talent and technicians. Much of the hiring happens in a personal capacity or through a network of small companies. Newcomers are barely able to reach the right people. Talent hunters lose out on a large pool of creative talent due to the limits of geography and connections. Existing platforms offer very limited opportunities requiring multiple personal meetings with many levels of people before actually meeting the selectors. Tech-savvy people use platforms like LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or even Facebook to locate talent. But these are not dedicated to this purpose.
