Kirva Hospice is a non-profit organization providing excellence of care to our patients, families, and caregivers through our interdisciplinary team in the Greater Richmond Region. Our experienced team of highly trained individuals are responsive to our patients’ needs and dedicated to ensuring that every patient is treated with dignity, kindness, and respect regardless of gender, religion, race, age, nationality, or sexual orientation.
Unlike many other hospice organizations with a national footprint, we are locally based and easily accessible. As a joint venture between Jewish Family Services of Richmond and Beth Sholom Senior Living of Richmond, our philosophy of care is deeply rooted in the Jewish traditions and values that represent family, caring for the sick and elderly, and extending concern and respect to the communities we serve. The name of our organization evolved from the Hebrew word קִרְבָה (keer-vah), meaning closeness, caring, and companionship. In that respect, caring for hospice patients in Richmond, VA is not only our passion, it’s inherent in our name.
Our team consists of medical directors, RNs, nurses aides, social workers, spiritual counselors, bereavement coordinators, volunteers, and a variety of other professionals who come together to provide comprehensive support and care for patients and families. Each member of our team brings their own expertise and experience to the table, allowing for a holistic approach to provide physical comfort, emotional support, spiritual guidance, and help with practical tasks such as managing medications or coordinating care. Our philosophy of care is to ensure that each patient is cared for in a way that honors their individual wishes and helps them achieve the best quality of life possible during the end of their life journey. The interdisciplinary hospice team encircles patients and families with care and support as they face difficult decisions and challenges during the end of a loved one’s life.
