About Hospital Partnerships funding programme

The "Hospital Partnerships - Partners Strengthen Health" funding programme is a global health programme of German development cooperation. Hospital Partnerships were launched in autumn 2016 by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) jointly with the Else Kröner-Fresenius Foundation (EKFS). It is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and fosters health system development in Germany's partner countries. Since 2017, the programme has been supporting over 600 projects in more than 70 countries in all medical fields. As the central interface between the German and Ukrainian healthcare systems, the hospital partnerships also support a growing network of already 30 German and more than 50 Ukrainian hospitals as well as medical non-governmental organisations that contribute to maintaining healthcare provision in the country and to strengthening the Ukrainian healthcare system in the long term.
