Knowledge Driven Mum (KDM) is a pioneering non-profit initiative dedicated to tackling child mortality and enhancing childcare practices. Launched in November 2022 by Gracefield Maxcot, in collaboration with Nestchem Pharmaceuticals, the Nigerian subsidiary of Ernest Chemist Ghana, KDM aims to bridge the healthcare knowledge gap among mothers and expectant mothers. Our comprehensive program provides vital healthcare education, promoting proper child socialization, preserving values, and ensuring the overall growth and development of society. Mothers play an indispensable role in childcare, and their knowledge significantly impacts the quality of care provided to children. Despite the critical nature of this responsibility, many mothers lack access to affordable, comprehensive education on childcare, leaving them to navigate this complex journey through trial and error. Research by Stephanie Richie (2005) underscores the risks associated with inadequate childcare knowledge, particularly for children born to adolescent parents, who are at an increased risk of behavioral and developmental problems. At KDM, we recognize the pressing need for structured, practical, and accessible information on child health. Our program offers a safe space for nursing mothers, mothers, and intending mothers to openly discuss childcare issues, receive free childcare tips, ask questions, and obtain answers that yield positive outcomes. We are committed to fostering a strong mother-child relationship and equipping mothers with the knowledge and confidence they need to care for their children effectively. By empowering mothers with the right information and support systems, KDM is reducing child mortality and fostering healthier communities.
