Founded in 1892 as a mill, Abel + Schafer can look back on a long bakery tradition marked by innovations.
In 1958, Fritz Claus Schäfer launches the production of baking mixes under the KOMPLET brand name. Abel + Schafer is one of the first manufacturers in the world to bring this idea to market and immediately enjoys a strong interest in its products. To deal with the growing demand, the subsidiary KOMPLET Berlin is founded in 1967 as a second production and distribution facility in Germany.
Another major milestone in the group’s history is the establishment of the subsidiaries Abel + Schafer, Inc. in New York in 1982 and Quality Bakery Products, Inc. in Texas in 1993 to service the fast-growing markets of the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central and South America.
While staying loyal to its commitment to Tradition and Innovation, today, the group Abel + Schafer has evolved to one of the leaders in the sector with subsidiaries across Europe and North America and sales to more than 70 countries.
