About The K. Patricia Cross Academy

The Cross Academy is a non-profit online platform that provides college faculty with access to free instructional videos and tools to help them to become more effective teachers who can also document their effectiveness in ways that support their hiring, tenure, and promotion efforts. The Cross Academy is an investment in the future of higher education, named to celebrate and preserve the legacy of K. Patricia Cross. Affiliated with the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U), the League for Innovation, IDEA, and the Faculty Guild, it is available to all college faculty, but specifically aims to support new, junior, and adjunct college faculty in pursuing an effective, rewarding teaching career by offering them free access to: 1. short videos on how to implement engaging, effective, high-impact teaching techniques; 2. supplementary PDFs that provide step-by-step instructions and additional guidance and resources. Offered through an online platform that is accessible to all faculty for free at all times, these videos and downloads give college teachers the knowledge and skills they need to 1) implement high impact, research-based teaching strategies and 2) document improved student learning in ways that assist them in reaching their short and long term career goals. The K. Patricia Cross Academy is • made possible through generous donations from K. Patricia Cross, Elizabeth F. Barkley, and Claire F. Major. • managed as a non-profit under the fiscal sponsorship of the Social Good Fund.
