King Salman Energy Park (SPARK) is one of Vision 2030 strategic projects and a fully owned subsidiary of Saudi Aramco. SPARK is an industrial city that is spanned over 50 km2 in the Eastern Province, of Saudi Arabia. It is developed to be a destination for investors, manufacturers, and energy sector service providers. SPARK offers infrastructure at international standards for global investors in the oil & gas, refining, petrochemicals, conventional power, non-metallics, renewables, hydrogen, CC(U)S, power storage, grid, water, wastewater, cooling, and heating systems. Furthermore, SPARK has two subsidiaries which are: • SPARK Utilities: Provide utilities to investors. • SPARK Logistics: Operates SPARK’s dry port and logistics zone. In addition, Commercial and Residential areas are being developed to ensure a full ecosystem. Execution is planned over three phases; with the first phase being nearly complete, which consists of infrastructure, roads, utilities, and real estate assets established across 14 km2. This is in addition to a dedicated 3 km2 dry port and logistics zone. SPARK has a great ambition to supply significant power to its tenants through renewable energy. This green initiative along with many more, made SPARK the first industrial city to attain a silver LEED certification.
