KSAK Royal Swedish Aeroclub

The Royal Swedish Aeroclub, also called KSAK, was founded on December 15, 1900, and is an organization that brings together general aviation Sweden for nearly 120 flying clubs and 4,500 members. We work to make flying easier, more environmentally friendly, and safer. We also exercise authority on behalf of the Swedish Transport Agency. KSAK also owns KSAB/Pilotshop, which produces and sells training material for future pilots as well as pilot equipment for commercial and private pilots. KSAK is Delegated by the Swedish Transport Agency for the airworthiness of ultralight aircraft, operates a flight school of 40 training places, flight instructor training, carries out forest fire monitoring for MSB with contracts for almost 18 county administrations. Within the organization, KSAK flies approximately 45,000 hours per year. In total, general aviation covers roughly 155,000 flight hours per year. These hours are distributed between taxi/aerial work/blue light flights of about 70,000 hours and club flying accounts for about 55,000 hours, of which school activities regarding private pilot certificates account for just over 35,000 hours per year. In Sweden, there are approximately 120 flight schools across the country and of these approximately 100 flight schools, it is the flight clubs that conduct the training of private pilots. KSAK lobbies and protects well-needed infrastructure, airports, airspace, and fuel. Flight safety comes first and permeates the entire operation.
