The Kelly Strayhorn Theater is a unique and vibrant community performance arts center located in the heart of East Liberty, one of Pittsburgh’s most historic neighborhoods. To enter the theater is to be in the presence of two creative and passionate spirits, who with their talent, tenacity, and love of their craft provide inspiration for us today: famed dancer and Hollywood movie legend Gene Kelly, born and raised in East Liberty and Homewood-bred jazz composer Billy Strayhorn. Their spirits abound in the young East End artists of today. The Kelly Strayhorn Theater is an intimate, professionally-equipped, 350-seat multiple-use performance venue. With a commitment to support the burgeoning arts community in the city of Pittsburgh, the theater serves as an ideal place for emerging local artists, regional artists and arts organizations to take risks and present new work.
