Kukkoo Foundation

Kukkoo is an initiative with an aim to transform the menstrual health spectrum globally by aiding and empowering menstruators with sustainable period products. Established on May 4, 2022, we are a Section 8 NGO dedicated to conducting pad distribution campaigns, educating underprivileged menstruators about period health and debunking myths around it. Our efforts primarily reach individuals in orphanages, slums, and shelter homes. Drawing from our field experiences, we realize the critical gap persisting in menstrual health access and strive to ensure equitable distribution across marginalized communities. The major difference that we want our work to make is the extensive usage of sustainable period products and a whole lot better awareness about periods in a shame-free way. We want menstruators even in the remotest corners to know the route to attain period products, prioritize their hygiene and bring a switch to the way they perceive period cycles from something shameful to something to be proud of. Our efforts have also reaped a decrease in dropouts of teen menstruators which was a common sight after they attain their first period. Our beneficiary communities include often not looked-upon communities like LGBTQIA menstruators and sex workers such that the working of our organization is truly intersectional. This speaks of our resolve to profess intersectional menstruation and un-gender periods. Thus, highlighting the fact that not all who menstruate are women and hence period products should be looked at as menstrual hygiene products and not feminine hygiene. Till date, we have impacted 28,000+ menstruators through successful campaigns, such as Project Saheli, Project Shikshhha and Masik: Garv ka Parv, only these have reached over 5,000 menstruators in India. We are resolute to expanding our reach, increasing awareness, and fostering a stigma-free environment around periods, thus revolutionizing the period world.
