Founded in the memory of the late Indian artist Kunda Kirloskar, Kundakala is both mission and a message.
Our mission is to provide women with the skills to start their own businesses and create a source of alternative/supplementary income for them and their families.
We perform three activities in order to achieve our goal. We encourage art and community spirit in schools by running Kundakala Neo – an art contest in schools. We run tailoring and employability workshops for women by partnering with local organisations.
Additionally, we also run collaborations with upcoming designers.
Through our activities we are slowly giving rise to a community of financially-empowered women by transforming Kunda Kirloskar’s art into products. Kundakala reminds us once again that along with warmth and wisdoms, our homes also contain wellsprings of opportunity and enterprise.
Kundakala is run by one of Kunda’s daughters with the help and support of her friends, Kunda’s admirers, and volunteers. All income generated goes back into the organisation.
