L.A. Focus was launched to amplify the voices in the Black community often overlooked by local mainstream media, particularly the Black church. Our publisher, Lisa Collins, is a second-generation pastor’s kid whose father was a confidant of Martin Luther King, Jr. She understands the power and influence of the faith community and set out to give voice to this vital segment of first responders. L.A. Focus highlights issues such as racial justice, local politics, policing, housing, jobs, healthcare, Black-owned businesses, and community activities. We also inform readers about much-needed resources like utility bill reductions, homebuyer incentives, and rent subsidies. In response to mainstream media biases, we ensure our readers have access to factual, unbiased news.
