La Quartara is a purveyor of fine Italian food products like wines, coffee and various delicatessen. La Quartara was born with the aim of bringing to your table the true Italian food experience; genuine products made with passion by niche, local producers.
The name La Quartara comes from a type of wine I particularly love, the one that my friend and winegrower Mario produces at his Lunarossa winery in Southern Italy and that I proudly sell in my online shop.
‘Quartara’ was the terracotta amphora used in the past to transport wine, in which the grape most was fermented to produce wine. This ancient and completely natural fermentation process was rediscovered to produce - in combination with slow aging in wood barrels - an incredibly flavoursome wine with an astonishing bouquet of aromas and complexity. Slow, natural and careful process is the underlying philosophy behind all La Quarter food products.
