The MAPIEM is a research laboratory (UR 4323) of the University of Toulon specialized in polymer chemistry, materials science, organic chemistry, and biology. The laboratory is home to over 40 members including associate and full professors, scientific staff members, Ph.D. students, and post-doctoral fellows. The highly multidisciplinary research activities carried out within the group, ranging from biology to engineering, fulfill both academic and industrial purposes. Alongside close collaboration with industrial partners, the MAPIEM has published over 250 peer-reviewed papers in the past decade on subjects such as anti-fouling coatings, marine biofilms but also anti-corrosion systems, aging of polymer/elastomer/composite materials, and smart imprinted polymers.
The laboratory is organized into 3 Research Groups :
• Chemistry of Functional Polymers
• Physical Chemistry and Durability of Materials
• Microbial Ecology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of Biofilms
