The request for the creation of this research laboratory was made in compliance with decree n°2009-644 of March 2, 2009, and to meet the objective of federating the human potential and resources of three research units of the Faculty of Medicine of Monastir: TIM “Technologie et Imagerie Médicale” 99UR08-27, created since 1999, NVAP “Neurophysiologie de la Vigilance, de l'Attention et des Performances” 99UR08-23, created since 1999 and A2SB “Algorithme et Architecture des Systèmes Biomédicaux”. The application was submitted in December 2005.
The TIM and NVAP units have focused on understanding, analyzing and modeling organ structures and functions, and have adopted a Research & Development approach. They form interfaces between medical sciences, computer sciences, physical sciences and engineering sciences, where cooperation between doctors, engineers and scientists is essential for the development of new approaches to morphological and functional exploration in medicine.
