Lamma Dragons

The Lamma Dragons have a long and proud history as one of the oldest dragon boat teams in Hong Kong. Most of the current team started with us as brand new paddlers and we always welcome all levels of fitness and competence on the water. Becoming a skilled dragon boater requires careful training. Our coaches are always revising the best techniques to get the power into the water, using the strongest muscles in your body; your legs and your back. We do our best to train smart, not just hard. Being a Lamma Dragon is much more than just surpassing your personal best, it is about encouraging each other to reach a higher level of achievement both physically and mentally than would be possible by your own individual efforts. However being a member of the Lamma Dragons is just as much fun as it is fierce training. We are a social club who value an inclusive team and are extremely dedicated to our community outreach. We have ongoing efforts to protect and respect the environment we paddle in. We maintain good relationships with the local community. We are also especially dedicated to supporting and improving our Under 18s team. It is the ideal way to meet new people, especially if you are new to Hong Kong. The dragon boat season runs from around early February until the end of June. We compete in a wide range of races throughout the season (and sometimes beyond). From local fishermen’s races to overseas and international competitions, pitting us against some of the top teams in the world. We race men’s, mixed, women’s and Under 18’s boats.
