Lancashire Army Cadet Force

Lancashire Army Cadet Force has over 800 cadets and 140 adult volunteers in 33 detachments across the county. The ACF is one of the country’s largest voluntary youth organisations and one of the oldest, tracing its history back to 1859. Many young people are missing out on the challenges and adventures that could transform their lives but joining the Army Cadets can change that. We welcome boys and girls of all abilities and backgrounds. When they join us we encourage them to learn more, do more and try more. We inspire them to aim high and pursue their goals, no matter what they aim to do in life. Lancashire ACF’s aim is to inspire young people to achieve success in life with a spirit of service to their local community, and to develop in them the qualities of a good citizen. Some of our activities have a military theme, others have more of a community focus but they all inspire young people to challenge their limits, become more independent, confident and able to step up to any challenge, and there is no obligation on cadets to join the Armed Forces. We’re looking for people from all walks of life that can be strong role models. As a volunteer with us you will have an amazing range of training opportunities and become part of the wider Forces community. You will also have the opportunity to take part in, supervise and organise all sorts of activities, such as evenings at your local detachment, sports competitions, local fêtes, military parades, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expeditions and annual camps. Volunteering with us will give you confidence and help you develop leadership and team working skills, which will help you move up the career ladder. When you start as a volunteer you will embark on a detailed, progressive training programme to give you all the skills you need. Alongside your general training to help you instruct cadets, you can choose to attend training courses and gain qualifications in a wide range of specialist areas.
