Land Core Group (LCG)

Land Core Group (LCG) is a Myanmar NGO promoting fair and equitable land governance in Myanmar. It was established as an independent organization in 2015 by a working group of the same name that then dissolved. From the beginning, LCG has engaged different stakeholder groups (state actors, civil society organizations, farmers, etc.) individually and together in multi-stakeholder spaces, primarily with the aim of improving law and policy with regards to land governance but also to improve implementation of the law. With an objective of supporting effectiveness and accountability of partner CSOs, LCG is providing grants. LCG’s vision is for the people of Myanmar, including men and women smallholders, indigenous communities and other vulnerable land users to fully enjoy equitable access to, use of and control over land related natural resources. LCG’s mission is to promote equitable land and natural resources rights and use in the formulation and implementation of policies and laws to strengthen people’s ability to effectively claim their land rights through formal and informal mechanisms, and to serve as a hub for research, information and coordination for land related work in Myanmar.
