We initiated what we consider is a financially, economically, and socially sustainable strategy to provide electric mobility to the masses. Our strategy is to set up a network of battery swapping stations across metropolitan areas of Sri Lanka starting with Colombo. A battery swapping model we propose is the unique solution to sustainably scale e-mobility in countries like Sri Lanka. It not only reduces the cost to the small-vehicle owner but also helps the environment, can promote renewable energy use, reduces the burden on the electricity grid, and spurs further entrepreneurship. To drive the initial demand for energy-as-a-service, we will convert petrol three-wheelers to electric. In consultation with three-wheeler owners and drivers, financial institutions, government, and equipment manufacturers here and in India, we are implementing a strategy we are confident is truly scalable. We partnered with a company in India that is likely the most advanced with swappable batteries and in retrofitting Bajaj RE three-wheelers. They produce, after years of research and development, the best performing swappable batteries tested and proven to work in conditions like Sri Lanka. Our technology has been certified by the Automotive Research Association of India and comply with the Automotive Industry Standards of India based on UNECE norms. We also signed an MOU with People's Leasing & Finance PLC. They have the largest number of three-wheeler leases in their portfolio, and we are their exclusive electric mobility partner related to retrofitting three-wheelers.
