Lanka Ventures PLC

Incorporated in February 1992, Lanka Ventures PLC (LVL) was established as a pioneer venture capital company in Sri Lanka. Its founding shareholders included the Asian Development Bank, John Keells Holdings, Forbes & Walker Limited, and DFCC Bank. LVL was listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange in 1995, following a successful IPO that brought in Hatton National Bank as another major shareholder. By 2009, DFCC Bank and Hatton National Bank held 58% and 20% of the Company, respectively. In January 2010, these shareholdings were transferred to HNB Investment Bank (Private) Limited (HNBIB) a joint venture equally owned by the two banks making HNBIB the major shareholder of LVL. From its inception, LVL has invested across a wide range of sectors. In recent years, the Company has sharpened its focus on the energy sector, marking a strategic shift toward sustainable and scalable investments. In 2006, this vision led to the formation of LVL Energy Fund PLC, a wholly owned subsidiary created to consolidate and drive LVL’s energy sector investments.
