Boulangerie Lanthier a été fondée en 1932 par Georges et Adrienne Lanthier. En compétition avec trois autres nouvelles boulangeries dans la région, et considérant que le pain était normalement fabriqué à la maison, les premières années ont été difficiles. Initialement, les clients étaient servis porte à porte et pouvaient acheter une variété de pain et pâtisserie.
Éventuellement l’entreprise prit de l’envergure, employant plus de 150 employées en production, vente et administration. En 1985, une deuxième usine de production fut construite à Montréal. La division de pâtisserie fut aboutie pour se spécialiser dans le pain utilisant des recettes traditionnelles avec des levains.
En 2015, Lanthier fusionne avec une boulangerie française, La Fournée Dorée. Depuis, plusieurs ajouts, changements et agrandissement ont été accomplis. La marque "Betty" est vendue à une autre boulangerie, et Lanthier concentre ses efforts à produire des pains briochés tranchés, des hamburger buns, des hot dog buns, et des mini buns. Aujourd'hui, nous comptons plus de 300 employés.
Boulangerie Lanthier est encore appartenue et gérée par la famille Lanthier. Elle est maintenant une des plus grosses boulangeries commerciales indépendantes dans l’est du Canada. Boulangerie Lanthier continue ses opérations avec succès, indépendance et croissance.
