Lar da Irma Celeste – LIC, is a Beneficent Entity of Social Assistance, Philanthropic, non-economic purposes, which operates in Guarulhos / São Paulo - Brazil, since 1940, with the objective of promoting education and citizenship to children and adults in a state of social vulnerability.
Initially it served in an orphanage, but from the year 2000, adapting to the social transformations and needs of the target audience, focused the service on socio-educational actions in an open regime, strengthening bonds and family support.
Since then, the LIC has sought to promote social equality. Currently, we serve 200 children aged 6 to 14 years, included in the "Ser Crianca" program and 75 people over 18 years who participate in the productive inclusion program CLIC (Creating in the Lar da Irma Celeste) that offers craft courses in fabric and baking / confectionery. The programs are offered to the community on an ongoing, planned and free basis.
The LIC seeks the construction of a collective citizenship without discrimination of color, race, sex or religion. It aims at social transformation through educational processes and stimulation of personal and social potentialities, mitigating differences and promoting sustainable local development
