Large Map Models (LMM): Generative models using spatial data

On weekends, I relish engaging in intellectual conversations with my sister, Pratikshya Regmi, who is pursuing a PhD in Geospatial Data, about various AI topics. Our recent discussions have centered on the potential of creating large map models capable of ingesting and generating map data, akin to the text processing of large language models (LLMs). We have coined this idea "Large Map Model," and casually, we find calling these map models "LMMs" quite cool. These models belong to a specialized subset of generative models for spatial data. Our goal is to explore a range of research papers within this field. This group is for those with a keen interest in this area.
