LEGAL AID WORK (LAW) Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing socio-legal aid services while ensuring access to justice for socio-economically marginalized communities of Bihar. Established in 2016 under the Criminal Justice Fellowship Programme of Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, and registered as a Trust in 2019, we have been providing socio-legal aid, rehabilitation, reintegration, mental healthcare support, and advocacy for individuals in prisons and marginalized communities across Bihar. With permissions from the Hon'ble Chief Justices Iqbal Ahmad Ansari and Rajendra Menon, we work closely with the criminal justice system within prisons and government institutions, collaborating with legal bodies and grassroots networks to uphold the rights of these vulnerable populations. Our impact so far: ✅ 662+ prisoners released through legal aid interventions ✅ 250+ released on Personal Recognizance Bail Bond ✅ 545+ social entitlements facilitated (Aadhar, pensions, Ayushman card, etc.) ✅ 100+ legal awareness sessions conducted ✅ 550+ families supported with emergency aid ✅ 259+ individuals received psycho-social counseling Currently, we operate across five prisons and seven marginalized communities in Patna and Jehanabad, Bihar, India, while addressing systemic barriers that prevent access to justice and enable social-mental welfare among the communities.
