Layered Reality was founded in 2017 by Andrew McGuinness. It
started with the idea of using the latest digital, theatrical and physical
techniques to transport experience seekers into another world.
The first experience, SOMNAI, launched in London in March 2018 to
widespread praise for its innovation. It is now featured in Digital
Catapult's Immersive Hall of Fame.
Since then, Layered RealityTM has won multiple awards. Jeff Wayne's The
War of the Worlds: The Immersive Experience received the prestigious
2020 THEA Award for Innovation, described by the Evening Standard as
'the Oscars of the industry', as well as the award for Best Innovation at
the British Youth Travel Awards in 2019.
The Gunpowder Plot is the latest experience from Layered Reality, in
partnership with Historic Royal Palaces. In 2021 it was the recipient of
the Epic Megagrant by Fortnite developers, Epic Games. It has also
been named one of the 'absolute best things to do around the world in
2022' by Time Out.
