About Lowcountry Center for Veterans Research
The Lowcountry Center for Veterans Research (LCVR), established in 1997, is a nonprofit organization based in Charleston, South Carolina. Dedicated to advancing discovery and innovation, LCVR supports research initiatives aimed at enhancing the health and well-being of veterans in the Lowcountry region. Mission and Vision LCVR’s mission is to advance discovery and innovation through research initiatives dedicated to improving the overall health and well-being of veterans living in the Lowcountry. The organization envisions a future where veterans experience enhanced health, well-being, and quality of life through pioneering research endeavors. Research Focus LCVR conducts diverse studies in basic research, clinical research, and clinical trials. Key areas include Alzheimer's disease, prostate cancer, lung cancer, PTSD, cardiology, endocrinology, and mental health. With over 50 active studies, LCVR aims to enhance veterans’ quality of life and advance medical knowledge. Collaborations and Partnerships LCVR collaborates with federal and local agencies, private corporations, and foundations to support groundbreaking research at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Health Care System. These partnerships facilitate the development of new treatments and interventions for medical conditions prevalent among Lowcountry veterans. Leadership and Team LCVR is led by Executive Director Brittany Baber, who brings 20 years of experience in sponsored research administration. The team includes professionals specializing in clinical research coordinator, program support, financial analysis, and grants administration, all working to support research that benefits veterans. Through its commitment to research and collaboration, LCVR strives to meet veterans' health needs today and in the future.
