The Learning Directed Operating System Expedition

The Learning Directed Operating System (LDOS) Expedition is a groundbreaking research initiative funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) under the Expeditions in Computing program (Award #2326576). Our project, "Learning Directed Operating System: A Clean-Slate Paradigm for OS Design and Implementation," aims to revolutionize operating system design by integrating advanced machine learning techniques into the core of resource management. Composed of researchers from leading institutions — UT Austin, University of Pennsylvania, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign—our team is building the next-generation ML-based OS to drive computing infrastructure toward higher efficiency and performance.
