About Le Cure - cycling to help cure cancer

In 2013 one of our founders, Marianne Butler was treated for breast cancer at the Royal Marsden. Marianne was the first person at the Marsden to receive a combination of two drugs for the treatment of a first occurrence of breast cancer, following impressive results in a number of trials in the US. These drugs were only available because of the amazing work carried out by Professor Ian Smith and his research fund, which forms part of the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. So Le Cure was founded in 2014, by four friends of Marianne and exists solely to raise money for breast cancer research for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. Over the last 4 years we have raised in excess of £1million to fund our own research fellowships which are already showing promising results. We have done this by persuading an increasing number of brave people (80 in 2017) to spend 4 days cycling through the Alps covering c.350km and 12,000m of vertical over some of the most iconic routes of the Tour de France. All our riders fund the cost of the event themselves so every penny we raise goes towards our fellowships.
