Lead2Peace

Founded in 2009, Lead2Peace was a youth-led organization that tackled social issues in Regent Park by leveraging unique methods (e.g., utilizing service learning and design thinking). Lead2Peace offered a variety of programs, ranging from martial arts classes to entrepreneurial workshops, all of which implemented solutions based on community needs and feedback. In recognition of its community impact, Lead2Peace and its members won several awards, including the Toronto Mayor’s Community Safety Award and Top 20 Under 20 in Canada. The Governor General also specifically recognized Lead2Peace as an innovative platform and approach to addressing social issues in the Regent Park community, and its members were subsequently invited to discuss best practices and lessons learned with the Prime Minister and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
