About Leading Research Group

The Leading Research Group is a part of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Riga Stradiņš University and is situated at the address: 21 Konsula Street, LV-1007, Riga, Latvia. Under the supervision of Dr Valentyn Mohylyuk, the long-term objective of the group is to become a world-class research/intellectual centre; thus, we are developing new directions to build expertise in pharmaceutical formulation, drug delivery, and respective analytical methods. Among the research directions, we are highlighting the improving of solubility and bioavailability of poorly soluble drugs in oral dosage forms; optimization of the pharmacokinetics and custom properties by specific formulations; we are also paying attention and developing the internal capabilities in continuous manufacturing processes, drug-loaded long-acting medical devices, and FDM 3D-printing. The Leading Research Group consists of 7 people. It is an international group: 4 Latvian, 1 Polish, 1 Hungarian, and 1 Ukrainian, incl. 3 PhD in Pharmaceutical Sci., 1 PhD in Chemical Sci., 2 MS in Chemistry, 1 engineer-mechanic, and associated students. The main communication language in the group is English. Even though the group is still new, the Leading Research Group has attracted a few financed projects, issued more than 20 publications in Q1/Q2-journals, and delivered presentations (posters & stand-ups) at international conferences.
