LEAP Charities is 'bridging the gap between need and hope, one home at a time' through creative and affordable housing solutions: Welcome Housing, est. December 2016 When refugees arrive in Boise, they are often housed in a hotel for an average of 21 days until a long-term lease can be secured. Since December 2016, Welcome Housing has provided furnished transitional housing units as an alternative to these pricey, isolating hotel stays. Our three Welcome Houses have served 85 individuals and saved each family an average of $850 on hotel costs. Welcome Housing residents also benefit from close proximity to public transportation and a personal host who lives next door to provide a warm welcome during their stay. LEAP Charities will open three new Welcome Houses in 2018, improving our capacity to transitionally house 100% of Boise's newly arrived refugee families. 'Yes You Can' Homeownership Program, est. October 2017 Many families in Boise want to pursue homeownership but face barriers of low income, poor/unestablished credit, or a lack of experience. In partnership with Property People Real Estate Services, LEAP Charities provides navigational services to future homeowners, leading them from dream to doorstep. This 'Yes You Can' Homeownership Program connects clients with housing counseling, housing education, and financial assistance programs to ensure the home buying process is an empowering experience. Welcome Housing and the 'Yes You Can' Homeownership Program fit perfectly with the greater LEAP vision to assist community members in need of creative affordable housing solutions.
