Lebanon Debating Society

The Lebanon Debating Society (LDS) is an initiative to provide a forum for constructive and informed debate in Lebanon, away from partisan politics. We are looking for Lebanon’s most persuasive, logical and quick-witted to take part in the inaugural LDS National Competition, as either debaters or coaches. Selected candidates will receive six weeks of intensive training from our award-winning local and international experts.They will enhance their skills in public speaking, policy development, systems thinking and critical debate. This training will lead up to a live broadcast debate, in which a jury will choose the most convincing debater based on their content, delivery and evidence, devoid of personal biases. The winners will receive a cash prize and be equipped to take the national debate to the next level. LDS is a non-partisan, non-sectarian initiative of a diverse group of individuals who believe in a more constructive, accountable and sustainable future for Lebanon. LDS is a unifying, transparent and neutral platform to promote a new political culture, where every opinion is actively heard, respected and analyzed according to agreed-upon rules of the game.
