Legacy Education Centre

LEC works to address key issues affecting disadvantaged communities by providing critical services, operating community advocacy platforms, and building female leadership to create change agents in communities. We empower the vulnerable for a more equitable society. The organization was founded in 2008 when the founder – Leah Nyalobo saw the need to respond to the many experiences of child abuse and Gender Based Violence (GBV) that was rampant in the slum areas yet seen as a norm. She wanted to disturb the structures, the systems, the culture and ultimately the mind set of people from the slum where she was born and bred on the need to create safe spaces for women and children to explore their opportunities. Her efforts in supporting women and children in the informal settlements and the rural areas grew with time resulting to formalization of her work in 2012 when she registered her organization as a Community Based Organization.
