The Leiden Debating Union (LDU) is an independent debating society, located in Leiden, The Netherlands. It was founded in 2004 as l.s.d.s. “De Leidsche Beck”. The founders were an electic mix of student debaters from the various fraternity debating societies in Leiden and internationally accomplished debaters, among them reigning European champion David Ham and our Honorary Lifemember Alex Ward. The goal of De Leidsche Beck was to form an independent debating society that could seriously compete at the national and international level.
