LeishNano is a spin-off startup from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro – UFRJ, Brazil. The company is focused on drug and vaccine nanoformulation development aiming at technology transfer. Available LeishNano technologies include:
i) Drug-loaded biodegradable nanoparticle/microparticle platform for single-dose treatment of chronic diseases. A prototype formulation is now ready for leishmaniasis treatment;
ii) Mucopenetrating vaccine formulations for intranasal and oral delivery. A prototype vaccine formulation is now ready for intranasal vaccination against Canine Visceral Leishmaniasis, which is effective from birth.
