LEN FORD LEGACY: Len Ford (Leonard Guy Ford, JR) lived too short of a life, but made a big impact in the years he was with us. Born in Washington, D.C. in 1926, he died at the age of 46 in 1972. In 1976, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and in 1996 to the University of Michigan’s Athletic Hall of Honor. His football career spanned from 1944-1958. While attending Michigan, he was a member of Omega Psi Phi, an all-black fraternity whose membership also included Bob Mann, another Michigan end who went on to play in the NFL. At the time of his death, he worked as an assistant recreational director in Detroit. PROGRAMS: Bob Mann Communities: Communities face unique issues related to housing affordability and especially for the homeless. Bob Mann Communities identifies viable resources, influencers, innovators and developers integrating homeless housing concepts, transitional housing and affordable housing for individuals and families. We love to say: “It takes a Village to raise a child,” we believe it also takes a stable home and community to create that “Village” by creating sustainable housing solutions and improving communities. Financial Wellness/Homeownership: We know it’s important to teach people basic financial concepts, especially related to home ownership. We know the value in leveraging resources and developing relationships with banks and other financial institutions. We activate and advocate for financial literacy and education programs via our financial wellness partners to pave a path to stability and financial success for individuals and families. We also offer workshops and seminars to promote financial and education literacy. QUBE Initiative (QI): QUBE INITIATIVE (QI) is our lead program for job creation and business development. Our crumbling infrastructure has created opportunities to Empower-Educate-Train-Enfranchise (EETE) individuals regarding the application of advanced materials for redevelopment, rehab and repair.
